GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The SM268 pump controller is a compact wall mounted unit which will manage the operation of a Single or Dual (Duty & Standby) pump applications appropriate for recirculating pumping systems such as those used in Hydroponics or Aquaculture. A backlit Liquid Crystal display provides extensive pump status information.
An external flow sensor input can be used to confirm pump operation or signal alarm conditions.
An additional input may be connected to a float or level probe to generate a triple-beep warning to say that a low or high water level has been detected in a holding tank or channel.
OTHER FEATURES
In its Dual Pump mode the unit will operate a pump and await confirmation of water flow. Once flow is confirmed it will continue to operate until a preset time delay of 1 to 6 hours is reached, whereby the first pump will halt and the second pump will be activated. Closing an external contact can perform a Manual Halt function which may be used to suspend all pump operation while equipment is being serviced.
If one pump should fail, this event is quickly detected by the flow sensor. The alternate pump is automatically engaged and a visual and audible warning will sound a slow ‘beep’ to alert operators of a problem. The display will indicate which pump has failed. Should both pumps fail, another more stern Double-beep warning is generated.
Pressing the Pump Swap button will cancel any alarms and force a transition to the alternate pump. Pressing the Alarm Mute button will suspend the audible warning for 6 hours.
When any alarm is activated, a 10Amp relay contact closes and may be used to generate external or remote alarms, suitable for connection to an automatic SMS or paging system.
- The SM268 controller unit features an advanced microprocessor controller bonded to the backplane within the enclosure. It will support one or two single phase 240 VAC pumps rated up to 1500 Watts.
- The controller unit is housed in a tough IP65 rated enclosure. Using suitable cable entry glands, cable entry may be effected via the side or rear of the enclosure.
- For ease of access, electrical connections are made via high quality unplugable terminal blocks.
- The controller is fully compliant with Australian AS3100 electrical safety standards (CS03057V) and with Electromagnetic Compatibility, EMC standards. (C-tick no. N12656)
- A small rotary switch on the controller backplane may be rotated to one of ten positions to engage various display and functional test options.
- A 2-position option link may be moved to a diagnostic mode to ‘fast forward’ pump changeover events to 20 second intervals so that maintenance staff may quickly check the integrity of the installation.
- A second option link forces the controller into a ‘Single Pump’ mode where only one pump is fitted or where a secondary pump may safely be removed for service.
- A full electronic ‘Hourmeter’ is standard with each controller. It records hours of operation for each pump since the system was first installed. The hour meter data is stored indefinitely in a special memory which requires no backup battery.
- The enclosure size is 145mm high, 185mm wide and 80mm deep.
