Compact Wall Mounted Pump PCB - SM199

General Description:
The SM199 pump controller is a compact wall mounted unit which will manage the operation of a Duty & Standby pump motor combination applicable for either rain water or waste water management.

Under normal operation the two pumps under control will alternate use with every pump cycle to ensure even equipment wear & loading. If one pump should fail to reduce water levels when operated, then the alternate pump will take over and an alarm condition will be flagged.

Three probes within a tank or sump will inform the controller when the container has been pumped dry, when a container is in danger of overflowing, or when a normal pump cycle needs to be initiated. The probes may be either submersible float switches or conductive probes set to different levels within a tank. A number of alarm conditions will be displayed and electronically recorded where normal operating limits have been exceeded.

Compact Wall Mounted Pump Controller - SM199The SM199 unit features an advanced microprocessor controller bonded to the backplane within the enclosure. The unit will support two single phase 240 VAC pumps rated up to 1800 Watts
The controller unit is housed in a tough IP65 rated enclosure with a clear front so that various status indicators may be viewed. This allows routine pump checks and maintenance to be carried out without the presence of an electrician. (Installation and maintenance of all electrical components will still require the presence of a qualified electrical contractor.)


Other Features
Should tank levels become too high or too low, different audible and visual alarms will be triggered for the duration of the fault. A single or double flash will indicate the fault type. The audible alarm may be suppressed for 6 hours by briefly pressing an ‘Alarm ‘Mute button on the underside of the cabinet. Motor operation is inhibited with ‘Tank Low’ alarms.

A third alarm condition will indicate the accidental reversal of the ‘High’ and ‘Low’ probes by installation staff.

The two motors will operate alternately with each cycle to distribute wear evenly. Should one pump motor fail, the unit will automatically restart using the alternate pump motor.

A special ‘Learn’ mode may be engaged to vary standard pumping times for unusual probe placements and tank sizes.

A ‘Motor Jog’ button inside the enclosure will force the pump to operate for a brief period.
(This feature is inhibited if tank levels are low)

The controller is fully compliant with Australian AS3100 electrical safety standards (CS03057V) and with Electromagnetic Compatibility, EMC standards. (C-tick no. N12656)

The cabinet size is 145mm high, 185mm wide and 80mm deep.

A full electronic ‘Data Logging’ system is standard with each controller. It records pump cycles, hours of operation, alarm conditions both as running totals and within 4 hour blocks over the last 24 hours for each pump.
A counter also indicates the number of hours since the last power interruption.

Data is extracted from the unit by bringing a standard PC with an infrared receiver device and a special terminal program near the controller. (SM96TERM)

When the ‘Send Data’ button is pressed, the entire data log contents are sent to the PC by an infrared signal.

The log data is stored indefinitely in a special memory which requires no backup battery.

The retrieved information may be saved within the PC in a simple ‘Microsoft Access’ format for later analysis. ( The infrared receiver probe and software package are available as separate product, ‘SM96 TERM’ which will automatically configure itself for single or dual pump systems.)
